Quick start

Check a 230 mm brick wall, 3 m storey height, carrying 150 kN per metre run to IS 1905, built with 10 MPa bricks in M1 mortar, in a two-storey building in seismic zone III.

  1. Under Design Code / Country, select India.
  2. In Wall Geometry & Loading, enter Axial Load 150 kN, Storey Height 3000 mm, Wall Thickness 230 mm and Wall Length 1000 mm.
  3. Set End Condition to Both ends restrained (0.75 H).
  4. In Masonry Material, enter Unit Strength 10 MPa and set Mortar Grade to M1 — 1:1:6 (cement:lime:sand).
  5. In Seismic (IS 4326 / IS 13828), set Seismic Zone to Zone III — Moderate and Number of Storeys to 2.
  6. Select Run Masonry Design.

Codes and standards

  • IS 1905 with IS 4326 and IS 13828 (seismic detailing)
  • TMS 402
  • EN 1996 (Eurocode 6)

Inputs

  • Wall height, length and thickness; masonry unit and mortar; loads; seismic zone.

Outputs and exports

  • Slenderness, stress-reduction factors, permissible against actual stress; plinth, lintel and roof bands and vertical steel.
  • Exports: PDF and Excel report.

Limits

  • One wall at a time; the loads come from your own analysis.
